My mailbox was bursting yesterday, and this was one of its contents - a wish from Stephanie! I knew this was coming, because she had blogged about it recently. I love the sparkly letters that spell 'daughter'. Stephanie also included a lovely quote (I think it may be her own) that says, "While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about." The green rectangle at the top of the wish is there for me to add Jillian's picture one day. I can hardly wait to do that.

This pretty wish comes from Tamara and her daughter Alexis in Georgia. They are waiting for Miya and should get their referral this month. Tamara and I have corresponded quite a bit through email and I've really enjoyed getting to "know" her through our little "chats". She has a beautiful heart.

This snowy wish comes from the mountain highs and skies so blue of Lake Tahoe, home to Paulette. The photograph of the lake in the background of the wish was taken by Paulette when she was "on the mountain", as she says. It's stunningly beautiful - too bad snow is cold. I told Paulette I'd bring Jillian up for a visit sometime, but not when it's cold. Maybe I'll change my mind.

Another wish arrived yesterday from Krista. I love the pink and green colors, and the Chinese symbols for faith, strength, peace, and love. The quote is one of Helen Keller's, "Life is either a daring adventure...or nothing at all."

The wish includes lyrics from Steven Curtis Chapman's song "I Will Be Here". That song was a part of my sister's wedding ceremony fifteen years ago. I told Connie that I'd always thought of it as a love song from a man to a woman, but the lyrics are fitting for the parent child relationship, too. I was very moved as I read them again with new eyes.

Good Wishes for Jillian

For those of you who emailed me requesting quilt squares, they are on the way to you as of today!

I've decided not to make a OHGWQ for Jillian. GASP! I know, I know... I have my reasons and they mostly have to do with the fact that I don't quilt, or sew, or knit, or anything along those lines. I had a hard enough time cutting out the quilt squares with pinking shears. You should have seen me...

What I'd like to do instead is fill this

with as many good wishes in the form of scrapbook pages from family, friends, maybe even my students, and my blogging buddies as possible. I just loved the beautiful embossed cover and the floral design. I was able to personalize it with Jillian's initial, too.

If you would like to contribute to Jillian's Good Wishes Book, I'd be delighted. Just design a scrapbook page to fit. The scrapbook holds 8.5" x 8.5" papers. Make sure you include your name and where you live on the page, and a picture of you and yours would be great, but isn't required. Email me if you have any questions.

p.s. I have lots of fabric left over. If you still need quilt squares for your OHGWQ, email me with your address and I will be happy to risk my life again with the pinking shears to send one to you! ;-)
